Collateral Damage

The US presidential elections set for November of this year have many Americans divided, confused, and unsettled. Many are hoping that the current president does not get re-elected. We should all vote “no confidence” in Trump, who has done more damage to this great country than any other president.  Below are some of the reasons why the 45th POTUS deserves no second chance:

1. Trump Promotes Racial DivisionVote "No Confidence" in Trump

One of the reasons everyone should vote no confidence in Trump is that the president has promoted the racial divide. Trump consistently divides Americans along racial lines even though he is supposed to unite us, as per his constitutional mandate. White supremacy narrative proponents find favor in his administration.

You’ve probably watched many stories on the news about a cop who killed an innocent black man somewhere. These incidences have made minority communities feel targeted, and as such many of them have developed resentment against white people. Worst of it all, they have sparked protests in different parts of the country, with Chicago being the latest, causing damage worth 20 plus million dollars, according to Chicago Sun-Times.

Vote "No Confidence" in Trump2. Trump Does Not Care about the Lives of Americans

He is advocating for the reopening of the economy contrary to what the experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, advise him to do. Dr. Fauci is a top infectious disease expert whom Trump’s administration is bullying instead of showing respect and admiration for him.

Additionally, Trump rarely wears masks when attending public gatherings, putting the lives of people around him at the risk of catching corona. Many people have contracted and died of the virus coronavirus due to attending his public rallies. Furthermore, he wants school reopened without giving a damn about the health of our kids as far as COVID-19 is concerned.

Vote "No Confidence" in Trump3. Trump Does Nothing about Gun Violence

Trump has utterly failed to do something about the unfortunate mass shootings currently being witnessed across the country. It’s unbelievable the fact that from the beginning of January to the end of July 2020 alone, 339 shootings have taken place, resulting in 297 deaths and 1437 injuries!

Despite the shocking statistics, Trump appears to be reluctant to have the much-needed gun legislations put in place to protect Americans from gun violence. Moreover, Trump seems to speak the same language as the National Rifle Association(NRA), which funded his campaign in 2016 and may fund his second presidential bid.

Vote "No Confidence" in Trump4. Trump Has Bad Foreign Policy

Everyone should vote no confidence in Trump for the sake of our country’s diplomatic relationship with her allies. Trump is busy killing these important alliances that America has had with countries like China, UK, France, etc. An article recently published by The Guardian suggests that the United Kingdom has fears about ending a long-standing alliance with America if Trump gets re-elected.

A second point: the president is subjecting America to unnecessary trade wars with China.  As a result, this is causing many industries, including energy, automobile, Food & Agri-business, as well as American entrepreneurs to incur billions in losses. And in this pandemic, he has been way out of line with his reckless sentiments.  One example is how he insults one of our biggest trading partners, by saying the coronavirus is the “China” virus.  This type of behavior is unacceptable for the leader of any nation; especially for the US, which represents freedom, liberty, and justice for the world.

5. Trump Abuses His Executive Powers

While it is within the president’s executive powers to offer clemency to convicts on a case by case basis, president Trump has abused his clemency powers.  Trump, on several occasions, exercised his presidential powers allowing friends, cronies, associates, and supporters an early reprieve from prison. Even more, he released many of these individuals from jail despite them having committed some severe crimes;

  • Paul Manafort – formerly Trump’s campaign chairman jailed for tax fraud and several counts of bank frauds.
  • Roger Stone – also a friend and adviser to Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign.  Jailed for making up to five false statements to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing an official proceeding.
  • Joe Arpaio – an avid supporter of Trump’s anti-immigration agenda convicted of contempt of court.
  • Conrad Black – a friend, supporter, and biographer of Trump jailed for mail fraud and attempted obstruction of justice.
  • Michael Milken – a financier of Trump’s campaign charged and convicted of securities fraud, mail fraud, and tax fraud.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I believe Trump should no longer remain the president of the United States or get re-elected. Firstly, Trump divides the country. Second, the president does not care about the health or lives of Americans. Also, he is not ready to do anything about the mass shootings, which have become so rampant in his administration. Trump’s foreign policy is severely lacking, and he abuses his clemency powers. Regardless of who we do decide on, let’s all unite together as one and decide to vote “no confidence” in Trump.
